2013 will be over on the East Coast in 4 hours. It’s New Years Eve, and I’m sitting on my computer, typing up a blog post, because I don’t have any plans. (At least I babysat and made $60 today.)
For Christmas, I ate a lot. We had a “Christmas Dinner” on the 24th (we thought that’s when we’re supposed to eat Christmas dinner, but apparently not), with 3lbs of roast beef, and I baked cookies and biscuits (first time for both!). For Christmas Day lunch, we went to have dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. It was EXTREMELY crowded, but hey… We all have to get in our Christmas tradition of eating Chinese, right? (Apparently it’s also a Jewish tradition.) cvvvvvvv][[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[ (That was my cat typing for me) For dinner, we had kimchi hot pot, which had lots of fish and veggies in it, and when all were gone, my mom put in udon noodles to finish it off.
My boyfriend was home from about a week before Christmas, and he left last weekend to go back to school, and celebrate new years with his family up there. For Christmas presents, I got my best friend a personalized planner from May Designs and a ceramic pen knife, a Birch Box subscription for my sister (because she, unlike me, is actually into make up), a Fossil wallet for my boyfriend (because his is falling apart), and a Cat mug for my mom (not sure if she appreciated it too much). My best friend gave me some awesome pair of gloves. I received a lot of cards that I need to send some back to, but alas, it is too late for Christmas cards (or maybe I should send Christmas cards in February???), so I need to do something like custom order from Moo or something.
I have 2 licensing exams I need to prepare for (end of January), but I’ve been spending most of my time reading (thanks, Oyster), and trying to collect some Doge Coins (you know Bit Coins? It’s Doge version). Oh, and eating. Lots of eating. In the past week, I read Secret Daughter, Hikikomori and the Rental Sister, and Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs. I finished Stolen Innocence last night, and man. That was some heavy stuff (and a tad too long-winded for me). I’m not sure which books I’ll read next, but I am planning on using the Oyster subscription to its fullest!
For the rest of my last winter break of my life (I have until end of January), I don’t have much planned. I wish I were adventurous enough (and my mother illogical enough to let me) do something epic, but alas. I will be going up to New York City in a week, to stay with my boyfriend for about a week (not really sure what I will be doing, since he has classes or activities until 5 or 7 pm every day), and will be studying for the 2 exams for my teaching licenses, and also taking up a few days of substitute teaching (first one is on the 2nd) so that I can keep my subbing qualifications (you need to work a certain number of days a year in order to remain eligible to sub, but I can’t remember what it was). I’m hoping to get a more of my “recovery” done this month (it’s been ongoing for 2 years now), and also a bit of emotional recovery as well, from a lot of last year’s turmoils.
Wishing you all a wonderful 2014! :) (I need to get some goals hammered out and written down for 2014… I might update this entry with it later.)
